Russia's ban on wheat exports will not affect prices in the United Arab Emirates

Russia's ban on wheat exports will not affect food prices in the United Arab Emirates. The country's economy is the second largest in the Arab world after Saudi Arabia.

According to Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the consumer protection department at the Ministry of Economy of the UAE, "there are no and cannot be any problems associated with food shortages in the country, alternative sources of supply can always be found in any case."

Russia, which is the largest supplier of wheat in the world, adopted a decision on August 15 this year to ban its export due to severe drought in the country and fires that destroyed part of the crop. This decision of the Russian government has contributed to a sharp increase in world wheat prices and the emergence of concerns about a possible shortage.
