In Abu Dhabi, alleged boy killer from Russia denies all charges

The defendant in the case of the murder and rape of a child from Russia claims in Abu Dhabi that he was not at the scene of the crime.

A 33-year-old Pakistani man, detained on suspicion of killing and raping an 11-year-old boy on a roof of a building in Abu Dhabi, denied all charges against him at a court hearing on Tuesday. His lawyer claims that his client was at home in Mussafah at the time of the murder.

Recall, a boy named Azan Majid arrived in the UAE to his father of Pakistani descent after temporary residence with his mother in Russia. His disappearance was announced on June 1, when he did not return from a neighboring mosque. The child’s body was discovered the next day on the roof of the building where he lived with his father.

A Pakistani detainee is accused of intentional killing, raping a child, wearing women's clothing and driving a car without a license plate. The testimonies of the guards indicate that the man lured the boy to the roof with a hoax, having changed into a female outfit.

The lawyer noted: "The evidence for the murder charge was entirely based on the statements of the guards in the building who did not see the person attacking the child."

The boy’s parents, who attended all court hearings, said they wanted justice and insisted that the accused be sentenced to death if convicted.
