Dubai Municipality dispels rumors about Pepsi's association with disease spread

Dubai residents debated on social media a rumor that carbonated drinks transmit AIDS.

The municipality of Dubai on Sunday, December 3, dispelled rumors spreading on social networks. It has been argued that acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is transmitted with Pepsi products.

In a statement, the municipality of Dubai said the rumor was a hoax because HIV cannot be transmitted through food.

Residents are strongly advised to contact the municipality's call center to check the unverified and conflicting information they receive on social networks. It is proposed either to call the toll-free hotline number of the call center 800900, or to notify the municipality of what happened through WhatsApp by calling +971 50 1077799.
