Residents and guests of Dubai for the year lost $ 1.7 million

More than 6 million dirhams found in Dubai went to the state treasury.

In 2016, the Dubai Police Lost and Found Office donated 6.25 million dirhams ($ 1.7 million) to the state treasury.

Revenues from items sold at auction last year reached 4.71 million dirhams ($ 1.2 million), while this year they amounted to about 3.86 million dirhams ($ 1 million).

This was announced by Colonel Rashid Bin Safwan, director of the department. He said that the cash found during 2017 included $ 198 thousand, 10 thousand Bahraini dinars, 15 thousand pounds, 300 thousand Qatari rials and 3 thousand Kuwaiti rials.

Bin Safwan noted that among the items found there were more than 14 thousand mobile phones, 600 laptops, 1.2 thousand cameras, 16 thousand points and 11 thousand hours. They were sold during an auction held a month ago.

In addition, among the items found were marriage contracts and certificates for university degrees, which will be sent to the relevant state bodies. The authorities also received a water cooler, a jet ski, a generator and a new Vertu mobile phone worth 60 thousand dirhams ($ 16.3 thousand), as well as a 60-inch LCD TV.
