Emirates from UAE to cancel a quarter of its flights this spring

Emirates from the United Arab Emirates will cancel or reschedule 25 percent of its flights this spring.

Emirates Airlines said on Saturday that a “significant number” of its flights would be canceled or rescheduled due to the closure of the runway at Dubai International Airport. The runway will be closed for repairs from April 16 to May 30.

Emirates will reduce the total number of flights that it planned to carry out during these one and a half months, by 25 percent.

The airline also plans to change the type of aircraft on some routes in order to minimize the consequences of closing the runway, as well as to respond quickly to changes in passenger demand during the year.

For example, from April 16 to May 31, a daily flight to the UK instead of a Boeing 777 will be operated by an Airbus A380.

Emirates will also suspend its route between Bangkok and Sydney from June 1, 2018, but will continue to serve Sydney with direct flights from Dubai. The airline will also adjust its routes to Perth.

It is also reported that flights to South America will be adjusted. Among other things, the flight from Dubai to Santiago via São Paulo will be canceled.

During runway closure, daily flights to Zagreb will be reduced to four times a week.
